The argument
Alchemy is not failed chemistry or mystical dogma; it is the practical art of psychological and intellectual transmutation. In my own vocation, I practice this as meresophistry: taking raw internal friction—unformed thoughts, technical anxiety, inherited dogma—and subjecting them to the dialectical crucible until they transmute into working clarity, disciplined code, and sovereign autonomy. Not infallible truth, but mere sophistry in service of your autonomy.
Four key terms
Prima Materia (First Matter)
The raw, unrefined starting material of any transformation—precisely the confused, despised, or stuck part of your life you would rather ignore.
Tria Prima (Sulphur · Mercury · Salt)
The three governing principles of any work: Sulphur (will, desire, combustion), Mercury (fluid intellect, imagination, mediation), and Salt (embodiment, structure, fixation).
Vas Hermeticum (The Sealed Vessel)
The bounded container of attention and commitment that prevents psychological heat from dissipating into distraction or premature venting.
Solve et Coagula
“Dissolve and coagulate”: break down rigid, inherited dogmas into their elements (solve), then crystallize a new, tested structure (coagula).
